Me: "Blah blah blah" to Dustin
Lilly: "What'd you say Mom?"
Me: "I said, 'I love you Lilly!'" (my usual response to that often asked question)
Lilly: "No, I think you said I could have a cookie!"
Lilly: "Mom, can you do me a favor and put me up on the couch?"
Lilly: "Dad, Mom said I could have some cookies."
(She never asked me if she could have any cookies!)
While driving in the car on the way home from daycare one day, the kids were fighting in the back seat over who was touching the other's car seat. I turned around and scolded them both. Silence fell over the car for a few minutes, only to be broken by a sweet little voice from the back seat that simply said, "Mommy, I like your sunglasses." As if paying me a compliment was magically going to get her out of trouble.
At a mere almost-3 years old, this little girl is already trying to work the system! :o)
